AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Gov. Rick Perry would like to run for president in 2016 as a proven job-creator who molded Texas' strong economy in his own political gunslinger image.

If he runs, he'll claim he can do the same for the rest of the country.

To do it, he'll have to convince voters to forget about "Oops."

In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Perry likened questions about "Oops" to being a football player quizzed about dropping the Super-Bowl winning pass. He questioned how much longer people will remember that.

But he also conceded that how he lives down the last campaign's top blunder will likely define his possible next campaign. Perry couldn't recall in debate the third of three federal Cabinet-level agencies he wanted to see eliminated.
