Richardson ISD Teacher Accused Of Sexual Assault Of A Child

RICHARDSON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A Richardson ISD teacher is under arrest, suspected of breaking into a McKinney home and sexually assaulting a child. Police say 43-year-old Roger Kessler admitted that he was HIV-positive after he was arrested, and said his teenage victim was unaware of his medical condition.

Kessler is suspected of breaking into a home - after the homeowner saw him leaving their residence. The homeowner detained him until officers got there.

As law enforcement officials were investigating the suspected burglary, it was determined that a sex offense had occurred between Kessler and a juvenile who lived in the home.

McKinney Police detectives obtained an arrest warrant on Thursday and arrested Kessler for Sexual Assault of a Child.

Kessler teaches music at RISD Academy. The school's principal has posted a letter on their website saying Kessler has been a teacher there for 14 years.

Kessler is now on administrative leave. The principal points out this situation does not involve a student at the school.

Kessler's bond has been set at $250,000.

This is an ongoing investigation and the McKinney Police Department is requesting anyone with information pertaining to this incident to contact Sgt. Damian Guerrero at 972-632-3937
