COPPELL (AP) — Retail gasoline prices across Texas and nationwide have slipped a penny this week.

AAA Texas on Tuesday reported the statewide average settled at $1.79 per gallon. Drivers across the U.S. are paying an average $2 per gallon.

Corpus Christi has the cheapest gasoline prices in Texas this week at an average $1.71 per gallon. Dallas has the most expensive gasoline statewide at an average $1.86 per gallon.

Association experts say consumers are expected to benefit from savings at the pump leading into 2016 as supply continues to outpace demand.

AAA projects more than 7 million Texans are expected to take automobile trips during the year-end holiday period.

Triple A Texas usually releases weekly gas prices on Thursday but this week provided the figures Tuesday due to the upcoming holidays.
