DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Dallas Stars have made their first splash in a wild beginning to NHL free agency Friday.
According to multiple reports, the Stars have agreed to a two-year deal worth $7.5 million with former Vancouver Canucks defenseman, Dan Hamhuis.
Hamhuis getting $7.5M over two years from Stars. #Canucks lose him for zip.

Hamhuis is not only good at that price, but he's a good fit for Dallas.

Gives Stars option to play him in top pair.
Hamhuis adds a much needed veteran presence for the Stars on the defensive end. He's defensive minded, unlike the recently departed Alex Goligoski.
Hamhuis could very well end up on the top line with John Klingberg next season.
The 33-year-old recorded 3 goals and 10 assists in 58 games this past season.
