DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The Rangers have acquired New York Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran and cash, the club announced Monday.

Texas will send 2015 first round pick Dillon Tate, RHP Eric Swanson, and RHP Nick Green to New York.

Beltran gives the Rangers another outfielder and designated hitter option with the uncertainty surrounding Shin-Soo Choo. Choo is eligible to return from the D.L. this week, but it's not known if his back issues will prevent him from playing in the outfield. The move also gives the club a power bat with Fielder out for the season.

"I can't think of too many hitters for what we're looking for down the stretch who fit better than Carlos does right now," said Rangers general manager Jon Daniels.

Tate, the #4 overall pick in 2015 out of the University of California Santa Barbara, is the biggest piece get for New York in the deal.

"You get what you paid for. We got the best available bat and we gave up a good, young talent," Daniels added.

Beltran is hitting .304 with 22 HR and 64 RBI in 99 games.
