ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Texas Rangers are on the verge of acquiring right-handed starter Yovani Gallardo from the Milwaukee Brewers, Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.

The 28-year-old is under contract for 2015 at $13 million and will be eligible for free agency this fall. It's unclear who Texas would surrender in the deal, though sources tell the MLB Network that Jurickson Profar is not involved.

Gallardo, an All Star in 2010, was 8-11 with a 3.51 ERA in 32 starts in 2014.

He was drafted in the second round of the 2004 draft after attending Trimble Technical High School in Fort Worth.

If Gallardo joins the rotation, Texas will boast Yu Darvish, Derek Holland, and Gallardo atop the rotation.
