Houston Declines To Match Mavs' Offer Sheet On Parsons

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- The Houston Rockets will not match the Dallas Mavericks' offer sheet for restricted free agent Chandler Parsons, 105.3 The Fan's Mike Fisher confirms.

Yahoo Sports first reported the development.

Parsons -- who signed a three-year, $46 million offer sheet with the Mavericks on Wednesday -- will join Dallas next season.

Houston had until 11 p.m. local time to match the offer.

Yahoo reports that the Rockets decided the contract was "too constraining to future roster building". This comes a day after Houston signed free agent Trevor Ariza to a four-year, $32 million deal.

With the return of Shawn Marion unlikely, the Mavericks' front court has undergone a radical transformation this offseason.

Center Tyson Chandler and Parsons will join a starting lineup with Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, and probable starter Devin Harris.

The team added a veteran piece to its roster on Sunday, agreeing to a one-year deal with forward Richard Jefferson.
