Baylor Hires Temple's Matt Rhule As New Head Coach

DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - After a year of uncertainty surrounding the future of the Baylor football program, the school has found the man that will lead them in their next chapter.
The university announced Tuesday morning that Temple's Matt Rhule will be their new head coach.

"I am truly honored and humbled to join the Baylor Family. I know the passion that so many have for the Bears will help bring the community together to reach even greater heights," Rhule said in statement tweeted out by the Baylor Football program.

Rhule led Temple to an upset win over Navy 34-10 on Saturday to capture the American Athletic Conference championship.
Rhule was 28-23 in his four years at Temple, however, he led them to back-to-back 10-win seasons the last two years.
Rhule's hiring comes over a week after interim head coach Jim Grobe told Baylor administrators that he didn't want to be a candidate for the opening. The former Wake Forest coach took over for the ousted Art Briles in May, following an independent investigation by the law firm Pepper Hamilton, which said the university mishandled sexual assault allegations involving students and football players.
The 2016 campaign started with lots of promise for the Bears after they won their first six games. It was all downhill from there, though, as they would go on to lose their final six games of the season to finish with a record of 6-6.
Baylor will take on Boise State in the Cactus Bowl on Tuesday, December 27.
