DALLAS (CBS11) – 'Tis the season to be jolly and apparently for some, to overspend.

Dallas CPA, Holly Signorelli known as the "The Money Therapist," said chronic spending during the holidays happens within all income levels.

She said many times shopaholics are easily enticed by the huge shopping and sale events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

"All of the ads are telling you that everything is priceless and you are not worried about it, and you just want to have fun for the holidays," said Signorelli.

The first step to keep from overspending is make a budget and figure out who you want to buy gifts for, Signorelli said.

The second thing to do is to decide exactly what you want to buy for those people.

"Look for those items on sale rather than something on sale that probably won't even make a good gift for that person," she said.

Stick to those two simple tips and "The Money Therapist" said you can avoid falling into a huge mountain of holiday shopping debt.
