MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - A real-life Grinch is on the prowl in a North Texas community after a family in Mesquite discovered their "star shower" Christmas light display was stolen from their yard.

The display is made up of lasers that project light onto a house instead of hanging lights for the holidays.

"It's just sad that there are people in the world like that," said Randi Harrison.

Security cameras captured what appears to be a woman who walked into Randi Harrison's yard and took her "star shower."

"I feel kind of violated that she's hanging out in my yard, taking pictures of my house when I'm not home," said Randi Harrison. "We want to show Christmas spirit and then you can't."

Randi Harrison's husband Justin Harrison called Mesquite Police. The couple also posted the video online where several others reported that their laser displays were also stolen.

A police spokesperson said it is common this time of year for thieves to target the latest Christmas decoration.

"It's not the fact that it's the $40 Christmas lights. Really it's just that fact that somebody has the gall to come onto your property especially during Christmas to steal Christmas lights. I mean come on, That's just low," said Justin Harrison.

It's unclear if the thefts are at the hands of one person or several different thieves.

Anyone with information surrounding the theft should call Mesquite Police.
