IRVING (105.3 The Fan) - Alfred Morris has a new two-year contract to join the Dallas Cowboys, the two-time Pro Bowl running back's agent tells 105.3 The Fan's "Shan & RJ'' this morning.

Morris exploded onto the NFL scene as a sixth-round rookie in 2012, rushing for 1,600 yards and 13 TDs. He's started every game of his career with the Redskins but in recent seasons has split carries while Washington changed quarterbacks, coaches and schemes.

Dallas prefers to use a zone-blocking scheme, which fits the one-cut style of the 5-10, 224-pound Morris. While Darren McFadden is the Dallas incumbent and coming off a 1,089-yard season, the durable 27-year-old Morris is likely a good bet to win first-team work.
