DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is trying his hand at baseball, and several teams, including the Texas Rangers, are sending a scout to his Tuesday workout in Los Angeles.
The 29-year-old Heisman Trophy winner and current sportscaster hasn't played baseball since his high school days where he was a star first baseman at Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
Rangers GM Jon Daniels says even tough the teams send scouts all over the country to check out prospects - any offer Tebow may get from this showcase would more than likely be a minor league deal.
"We don't always send somebody, but usually we will" said Daniels. "I'm intrigued. We're talking about a very good athlete. But I think the odds are a little challenging being away from the game that long to jump in."
Tebow was reportedly offered a contract with a winter-ball team in Venezuela.
Here is video of Tebow taking batting practice in early August.
