Rangers Re-Sign RHP Colby Lewis To 1-Year, $6M Contract

ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) - The Texas Rangers announced Monday that the club has re-signed free agent right-handed pitcher Colby Lewis to a one-year, $6 million contract for the 2016 season.
Lewis was selected by the Rangers in the supplemental first round of the 1999 draft, Lewis has spent nearly his entire major league career in the Texas organization, and ranks sixth in club history in wins (71), strikeouts (860), innings (1058.0), and starts (175).
In 2015 Lewis went 17-9 with a 4.66 ERA (91 ERA+) in 33 starts and 204 2/3 innings. Injuries have hampered him in recent years -- he did not pitch at all in 2013 due to arm trouble -- but Lewis does have a solid 4.34 ERA (99 ERA+) since returning from Japan in 2010.
The 36-year old pitcher had left knee surgery for a meniscus tear in October 2015, is expected to begin throwing off a mound when spring training begins next month.
This is the fourth straight offseason the Rangers have re-signed Lewis to a one-year contract.
