Rangers Mailbag: Too Early For Trade Talk?

On Tuesday, April 21 Jared Sandler (@sandlerj) asked questions with the hashtag, #AskJared, for 105.3 The Fan. Here are some of the interactions.

Prince is hitting opposite field singles and doubles because they are pitching him away. How about during batting practice? Has he been driving the ball?
-- @dcwildcat97

The batting practice I've watched of his have looked very powerful. According to Jeff Banister, his batting practice "looks like his old self." That's good enough for me. With that being said, the total absence of power is still a slight concern. However, Prince deserves credit for not trying to do too much with a selfish "power only" approach. Prince's always been known as a power guy, but he's always been a great all-around hitter so, really, this shouldn't be a big surprise.

I don't think the Rangers would do it/don't want them to, but what type of a haul could the Rangers get for Adrian Beltre?
-- @jakeapoloza

This is always a tough game to play because so much of it is market-driven and dependent on which teams are involved. But, let's rewind to last year when the Rangers traded Joakim Soria to the Tigers. In return, they got a near-MLB ready reliever in Corey Knebel and a top-level pitching prospect, Jake Thompson. While I didn't think they'd pull in such a haul, I'd say it is fair to expect a similar return for Beltre: a top-level prospect and another solid prospect.

There are a few factors that should be considered, though. Last year Detroit was desperate for a reliever with a very win-now mode. Also, Beltre has an expensive contract ($16 million in 2014) that gets more expensive in 2015 ($18 million). So these factors, among others, like his level of play, can impact his trade value.

If Blue Bell Ice Cream were safe, what's your favorite flavor?
-- @JacobVielma

Homemade Vanilla. No questions asked.

Who could you all see being trade candidates when that time comes?
-- @IceVayne

I wouldn't be surprised if any of the below got traded:

Adrian Beltre, Prince Fielder, Shin-Soo Choo, Elvis Andrus, Mitch Moreland, Colby Lewis, Yovani Gallardo, Neftali Feliz.

How often do you get goose bumps working behind HOFer Eric Nadel? How do you try to implement his work into your own?
-- @LeCasualFan

Every single time. He's a legend. Some people had Vin Scully growing up, I had Eric Nadel. I'd listen to him as I would lay in bed as a youngster, and whether or not I realized it, I am confident that played a huge role in pushing me towards the field. Between listening to sportstalk radio, the Rangers, Stars, and Mavs on nights laying in bed, I was always listening to something.

I've been fortunate to count Eric as my foremost mentor for years. He's listened to my tape and given me feedback and I've listened to him and studied him, as well as other broadcasters. I learn something from hearing him every day. His descriptions are best in the game, as far as I'm concerned.

If the moon was made out of cheese, would you eat it?
-- @ShippyFunSports

If I could crush other planets into nacho chips or create a sandwich, yeah.
