Rangers Mailbag: Prince's Power Outage

On Tuesday, April 14 Jared Sandler (@sandlerj) asked questions with the hashtag, #AskJared, for 105.3 The Fan. Here are some of the interactions.

Are you more excited that Prince is hitting for average as well as he is or more concerned he isn't hitting for power?
-Russ, Houston, TX

That's a great question. It is definitely a little bit of both if I'm allowed to sit on the fence. But if I have to pick one of those two options one week into the season, give me the excitement over the concern. In a few weeks if he's still sitting on a goose egg but hitting .300, then we might need to revisit this.

Nick Martinez stepped up in September and continued it in Oakland. Who is the next prospect you think will make an impact under the radar?
-@baseballnemo21

I really like Andrew Faulkner. He's a lefty who isn't nearly as unheralded as Martinez was, but he doesn't get the type of attention that Gallo or Chi Chi Gonzalez or others get. I like the deception his delivery provides and his tall and slender frame smells like a starting pitcher. He's got good, sharp stuff and it will be interesting to follow his development.

How much patience will/should the Rangers have with Ross Detwiler in the starting rotation?
-@88DemBoyz

A lot of this depends on the performances of guys like Anthony Ranaudo, Anthony Bass in his long relief role, and the organization's thoughts on Chi Chi Gonzalez. Ross Ohlendorf is another person to follow in this conversation. The more pressure those guys apply, the shorter the leash will be in my estimation. With that said, Detwiler should get a few more starts to figure things out, and I suspect that's what will happen.

Are you in any way in favor of bringing back the sleeveless unis?
-@TylerEdwards_

I'm indifferent to that look. My one request was to bring back the red to the uniform mix and they've done that. I do think it would be cool to see the team rock the old school baby blues or the retro whites. Not all the time. Just every once in a while.
