Rangers Hold Moment Of Silence For Durrett
ARLINGTON (AP) - The Texas Rangers observed a moment of silence before Tuesday night's game against Detroit for veteran sports reporter Richard Durrett, who died unexpectedly last week.
Durrett's primary beat in the Dallas area for ESPN was the Rangers, and other reporters who cover the team put a collection of mementos around his empty seat in the press box. The first home game for Texas came exactly a week after Durrett's death on June 17. He was 38.
Rangers manager Ron Washington and several players were at a memorial service in Dallas on Monday along with Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, a former team president.
Mike Modano also attended on the same day the former Dallas Stars center was selected for the Hockey Hall of Fame.
