Rangers GM Jon Daniels On Former Player Kinsler's Comments
SURPRISE, Arizona (105.3 THE FAN) - With the news of former Texas Ranger Ian Kinsler's 'tell-all' interview with ESPN The Magazine breaking; wishing ill on the team and saying GM Jon Daniels "is a sleazeball", Daniels joined 105.3 The Fan's GBag Nation at spring training to give his comments on the article.
Daniels, explaining the nuts-and-bolts of the trade/contract process, countered Kinsler's comments that, "There was no remorse from the Rangers, they did not care" when it came to his trade by saying "The one element that we apologized for at the time, was how he (Kinsler) found out about the trade," said Daniels. "He found out about it on social media - regrettable."
"It sounds cold - that part of it is a business. And that is the decision we made." said Daniels.
But did Kinsler's 'sleazeball' comments bother him? "I'm not going to get into the name-calling stuff," and later added "I don't begrudge him for any feelings he is going to have" said Daniels.
And Daniels did not sound concerned on finding out how the information leaked out, saying "You try to keep things in check as long as you can, to make sure things are handled the right way, but if I start worrying about who is talking to who then we will never get anything done."
