Raises Announced For 179,000 Texas Walmart Employees

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Walmart announced today that they are making a $2.7 billion investment over two years in its U.S. workforce.

The investment allows the company to raise wages, provide better training and increase scheduling flexibility.

A big part of the investment affects Texas based employees as $275.6 million of it is going to raises for those associates. In all, 179,000 employees in Texas will get a raise.

By February, the new full-time average hourly wage in Texas for a Walmart employee will be $13.00 an hour and $10.40 an hour for part-time associates.
