Rain Floods Roads, Collapses Hunt County Bridge

HUNT COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM/AP) — Rains that swept through North Texas caused flooding that closed some roads, seeped into homes, and caused the collapse of a rural bridge.
It's located at Farm to Market Road 118, about five miles north of Highway 224.
According to the Management Coordinator for Hunt County, this is a low lying area that has been prone to flooding.
CBS 11 is told that everything washing down from the north deteriorated the underside of the bridge, taking one vehicle with it during the collapse. No injuries were reported.
National Weather Service meteorologist Ted Ryan told The Associated Press 3 to 6 inches of rain fell across the already-saturated area Sunday.
He says a Hunt County bridge collapsed after the water below rose at the low-water crossing. He says, "Once the water gets higher than the bridges, they run the risk of failing." He said there were no injuries.
A Collin County official says that in addition to road closures there, water had seeped into some homes in the small town of Josephine.
