NEW YORK (CBSDFW.COM) - Some lucky high schoolers from Prosper are in New York City spending part of the day with Late Show host Stephen Colbert.

They also got to shadow Colbert's writers and get tips on how to put together a big show.

The Colbert team invited the students after producers saw clips of their comedy skits on YouTube.

The six Prosper High broadcast students got a behind-the-scenes look at how the show comes together and got to ask Colbert questions.

The seniors that put on the school's weekly show spent years in Prosper's broadcast program before attempting to put on a Late Show-type show of their own.

That's why when their advisor told them he had an important message, they were worried.

"And we were all like, 'oh my God, we all just got canceled.' Like it's only like the second show," senior Landyn Cason remembered.

Cason, who prefers to stay behind the scenes in the control room, said the group soon learned instead of being canceled they were going to New York.

"We have Stephen Colbert. I was like, 'yes, like come on,'" Cason said.

The students will be in the audience for the show Monday night which airs on CBS11 at 10:35.
