ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - An Arlington principal is inviting parents to the school this morning after a student was arrested for bringing a gun on campus.

Principal Fernando Benavides of Sam Houston High is inviting parents to meet with him Friday at the school at 8:00 a.m. to talk about the gun at school incident.

Arlington Police said the 15-year-old student was arrested Thursday after another student heard about the gun on campus and told staff.

Leslie Johnston with the Arlington School District said no threat was made, but additional security will be added to the campus.

The school will conduct random metal detector checks and will continue to do so.
