Prince Fielder Named 2015 A.L. Comeback Player Of The Year

ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) - Texas Rangers slugger Prince Fielder has been selected as the 2015 American League comeback Player of the Year by The Sporting News.

After appearing in just 42 games due to a neck injury in 2014, Fielder batted .305 with 23 home runs and 98 RBI in 158 games for Rangers this season.

He ranked third in the league with 187 hits, tied for third with 57 multi-hit games, had the A.L.'s sixth best batting average, and produced the 9th most RBI. Fielder started 157 games as the DH (139) or first baseman (18).

Fielder is the seventh Texas Ranger all-time to capture the A.L. TSN Award. Ferguson Jenkins won it in 1974, Jose Guzman in 1991, Jose Canseco 1994, Kevin Elster 1996, Ruben Sierra 2001, and Vladimir Guerrero 2010.

The award has been presented by The Sporting News since 1965.
