HOUSTON (AP) — The 20-year-old son of an Episcopal priest has been sentenced to life in prison without parole in the 2015 killings of his parents and 5-year-old brother at their Texas apartment.

Isaac Tiharihondi pleaded guilty to two counts of capital murder and was sentenced Monday in Houston. Authorities say Tiharihondi beat his 51-year-old father, Israel Ahimbisibwe, and mother, 47-year-old Dorcus Ahimbisibwe with a lamp, baseball hat and hammer. Authorities say Tiharihondi fatally stabbed his brother Israel Jr.

Their bodies were discovered in February 2, 2015.

According to court documents, Tiharihondi had told his family he joined the Marines and was about to report to duty. An affidavit says that his parents thought he was lying and had planned to confront him about this before they were killed.

Police said the U.S. Marine Corps had no record of Tiharihondi ever enlisting.
