Powerball Sales In Texas Top $1,622 Per Second

DALLAS (CBS 11) — As the drawing for the record $900 million Powerball neared, sales in Texas skyrocketed.
From 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday Texas had more than $5 million in Powerball sales, according to the Texas Lottery. That's $1,622 per second.
At Fuel City in Dallas, lines of wishful millionaires lined up all day.
"People are buying a lot," said Tina Gonzalez, one of several cashiers working on the busy night. "We've sold thousands upon thousands."
Along with dreams of riches, the Dallas gas station was filled with promises.
"I've been promised a car, a house, 10 percent of the winnings," Gonzalez said. "So hopefully one of them wins."
In return all Gonzalez had to do was sell them the lucky ticket.
The final Powerball jackpot Saturday increased to $949.8 million.
