Potential Jurors In Arochi Trial Ordered Back For Day Two

MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - Jury selection in the Enrique Arochi trial will take longer than the judge had hoped.
Arochi is accused of kidnapping 23-year-old Christina Morris after the two were seen together on surveillance video in a parking garage at Plano's Shops at Legacy more than two years ago. Morris has never been found.
The case drew international media coverage leading defense attorneys for Arochi to question whether they could find an impartial jury in Collin County. The court spent Tuesday morning taking a jury pool of more than 200 people and narrowing it down to a panel of 125. After that, Judge Mark Rusch gathered all 125 to begin the selection process.
The goal is to have a big enough pool to choose the 12 people who will decide Arochi's fate. Before breaking for lunch jurors had to fill out a questionnaire about media coverage of the case. The judge dismissed more than a dozen people Tuesday, but with hours left to go in the selection process, he ordered the remaining candidates to come back Wednesday.
The judge says he does expect to have a jury in place by Wednesday to begin opening statements.
