DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Police are searching for the person who shot and killed a man on Thursday morning in far north Dallas. It happened at around 6:15 a.m. at the Winding Way Apartments, located in the 13200 block of Emily Road near Coit Road.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a Hispanic man shot to death in a white Chevrolet Cavalier. Investigators stated that it does not look as though the victim was driving at the time of the incident. A witness said that he heard the sound of a single gunshot.

The victim has been identified as Dionicio Luciano.

"It is scary to know that kids are getting up at that time of morning, getting ready for school, people going to their cars to go to work," said neighbor Angel Alonzo. "You never know."

A friend of the victim -- who did not wish to be named -- called the man a nice, friendly and hard-working person.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in this case. A few people were taken to police headquarters for questioning, but there have been no strong leads yet regarding a possible suspect or motive for the killing. Officials did add that this seems to be an isolated incident.

"If anybody saw anything, come forward," urged Lt. Thomas Castro with the Dallas Police Department. "We're going to need their assistance to, hopefully, locate the person responsible for this."
