ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - A suspected burglar was shot and killed by an Arlington homeowner on Thursday afternoon. It happened at around 4:15 p.m. along Highcrest Drive, and the investigation into this incident is still being conducted on Friday.

The deceased suspect has been identified as 18-year-old Nathyn Tealer.

Police said that the homeowner heard a loud noise coming from the back of his residence. That homeowner confronted two men at his home and fired shots. Tealer was struck and killed. The other person was questioned by authorities and has since been released from custody. He is no longer a suspect at this time. His name has not been released.

Tealer had a history of criminal activity including theft and disorderly conduct.

The homeowner was also loaded into an ambulance shortly after the shooting. According to neighbors, he was agitated by the ordeal and had elevated blood pressure. He has since been released from the hospital, but things escalated again when he tried to return to his home.

Police would not let the homeowner back inside of his residence, so he threw a drink cup at a patrol car. He apparently did not want officers to search his home, authorities said. A search warrant was executed on Friday morning, but it was not immediately clear what officials were hoping to find.

A grand jury will decide if the shooting was justified. Authorities on Friday morning were continuing to gather evidence that will be presented to the grand jury.
