Police Say Teenager Carjacks Woman, Leads Them On High Speed Chase

DeSOTO (CBSDFW.COM) - A 16-year-old boy is accused of carjacking a woman, then leading police on a high speed chase through three counties before surrendering.
The victim tells CBS11 she was placing an order after midnight at the Jack In The Box along North Hampton Road and Pleasant Run Road in Desoto, when suddenly two suspects parked up near her, approached her, and placed a rifle in her face.
The victim says they demanded her car and cash. She complied, and she says they also made off with her purse and cell phone.
Employee Author Johnson was taking the woman's order. "When she pulled up, she was like, let me have two tacos."
Johnson says he couldn't see what was going on, he could only hear. "Then I heard a man in the background say 'get out of the car, get out of the car.' I thought they were together."
He heard the two cars speeding away: the suspect's Cadillac CTS and the victim's Chevy Cobalt. "She came to the window, she was crying. I thought maybe her boyfriend and she got into it or something. She said no, they just robbed her."
Police say they chased the carjacking suspect in the victim's car at speeds of up to 95 miles per hour.
It ended in Van Zandt County, where police say the 16-year-old placed his hands out of the window and surrendered.
Larry Mitchell of Desoto says he's not surprised by anything that happens anymore. "A 16-year-old is not really thinking of the consequences for him or for others."
Desoto police say while they have the teen in custody, they are now working with Dallas police to see if there are any other suspects involved in this case.
