DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Law enforcement officials in Dallas said that a suspect has been arrested in the wounding of an undercover Arlington police officer as gunfire broke out during a task force operation on Thursday.

According to the arrest warrant obtained Friday, the suspect was identified 23-year-old Edgar Solorzano. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest warrant said that Solorzano is related to the target of the undercover operation.

The undercover officer was attempting to place a tracking device on a vehicle along Wilbur Street when he was confronted by  Solorzano, the arrest warrant explained. Authorities said that Solorzano opened fire as the officer ran for his life.

Police found meth and three guns while searching Solorzano's home -- including the rifle that is believed to have been used in the police officer's shooting. Tests showed that it was recently fired.

Solorzano's bond has been set at $50,000. Further details about the case are expected to come at a news conference scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

The Arlington officer was shot Thursday morning while trying to make an arrest in an undisclosed investigation. The wounded officer was taken to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas with injuries to his left arm and foot, according to the arrest warrant.

The undercover officer's name has not been released, but officials expect him to make a full recovery. Fellow officers rushed to the hospital on Thursday to show support.
