Woman in custody after shots fired at Fort Worth firefighters

FORT WORTH — A woman is in custody after shots were fired at Fort Worth firefighters responding to a call for medical help Tuesday.

Fort Worth police officer Tracy Carter said just before 2 p.m. officers were called to the 2700 block of Brea Canyon Rd. in west Fort Worth by a woman in her 70s who said she had been on the floor for five days and was in need of medical help.

As MedStar and Fort Worth firefighters arrived at the home a second call from the woman said that shots would be fired at anyone who came to the house, Carter said.

Those responders approaching the house said gunshots were heard. Police and SWAT responded to the scene.

Carter said police have been called to the address before and they believed the woman was in the house alone.

Fort Worth PD said no responders were injured.
