DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Police have confirmed an officer shot and killed a carjacking suspect.  The carjacking happened Tuesday and a plain-clothed officer investigating the crime found what they believed to be the vehicle.

When the officer approached, a man got out and pointed a gun at the officer, according to Dallas Police.

The officer shot and killed the suspect identified as Anthony Garcia, 24.

The officer was not hurt.

Jail records show Garcia had pleaded guilty to burglary of a vehicle and theft in 2014.

He was also arrested for assault family violence in 2015 and marijuana possession in 2011.

SWAT was notified due to the possibility of a second suspect that went inside a nearby home in the 3500 block of Virginia Boulevard. It was determined there was no suspect inside.
