Argument Over Child Custody Leads To Shooting At UNT Dallas Campus

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - An argument over child custody led to a shooting at the University of North Texas at Dallas campus Saturday evening, police say. The suspect in the shooting was caught.

Dallas police say officers responded to the call on campus at around 6:50 p.m. where they found a 41-year-old victim had been shot. He was transported to the hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, the victim and the suspect were in an argument in a parking lot regarding a child custody issue. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim.

Police say the suspect then got into the victim's vehicle and fled the scene. However, the suspect crashed into the vehicle of the child's mother close to the scene of the shooting on Camp Wisdom Road.

The mother and the child who were inside the vehicle were not injured. The suspect was taken into custody and was transported for questioning.

According to police, the victim is a 41-year-old student at UNT Dallas.
