Police Question Motive Behind Shooting In Frisco Neighborhood

FRISCO (CBS 11 NEWS) - Police are trying to figure out whether it was road rage or something more that left a young man shot in the back after driving through a quiet Frisco neighborhood.
Investigators are still trying to piece together what led to this shooting, but a neighbor reported seeing a grey car northbound on Bondend Drive and the victim's car eastbound on Turnbridge Drive approaching the same intersection.
The neighbor says the grey car had already cleared the intersection when the driver threw it in reverse and appeared to try to ram the victim's car in reverse. The cars missed each other, then came face to face. That's when the neighbor heard gunshots and didn't see any more.
Police say this all happened just before 7:30 Monday night, but by the time they got on scene, both cars were gone. Investigators later found 21-year-old Shemka Simo, a former football player at nearby Liberty High School, had been taken to the Medical Center of Plano with a gunshot wound from the Frisco shooting.
The young man's father didn't want to go on camera, but told us his son claims the shooter had been following him in his car before they ended up at the Frisco intersection.
Police believe this is an isolated incident, but neighbors in this quiet community say they're won't stop worrying until the shooter is caught.
"'Til they find out exactly what happened and the details come out, I would like my kids to stay inside," longtime resident Kumar Marri said.
The victim's family says he remains in the hospital with a bullet lodged in his back.
Police have not released a suspect description, and they are asking for the public's help in the investigation.
