DALLAS (CBSNewsTexas.com) — An investigation is underway after a hit-and-run victim died from her injuries Tuesday, Dallas police said.

The incident happened a little over two weeks ago on Oct. 9, when police responded to a call just before 7 a.m. in the 3600 block of Frank Street.

When officers arrived, they determined a suspect driving a dark-colored SUV—possibly an older model BMW—ran over 44-year-old Stephanie Whitlock.

Whitlock was taken to a local hospital for further treatment; however, she ultimately passed away from her injuries on Oct. 24.

Police said the suspect may go by the name of "Gigi" and is described as a Black man in his early 30s, and is approximately 5-feet-4-inches tall.

The original offense of aggravated assault will be reclassified as a murder, officials said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact detective Guy Curtis at 214-671-3633 or guy.curtis@dallaspolice.gov.
