ARLINGTON (CSBDFW.COM) - An Arlington man has died after being jailed and placed in isolation by detention officers.

Jonathan Paul, 42, was arrested on March 9, on several outstanding misdemeanor warrants.  According to police, the next day he "continued to be non-compliant" and was placed in isolation.  Police say a short time later, he was discovered non-responsive and taken to Arlington Memorial Hospital.

Paul remained hospitalized in the intensive care unit, until he was pronounced dead around 3:30 pm on March 13.  The Medical Examiner has not yet determined a manner and cause of death.

Police say criminal and administrative investigations are underway.  There is a video recording of the detention area where Paul was being held, but that video will not be released until the investigations are complete.

Police were called to Paul's apartment in the 300 block of E. Mitchell Street, the afternoon of March 9 because of reports that a man was screaming and throwing items out of an upstairs apartment window.  Police tried to talk to Paul and when they discovered he had outstanding warrants, they took him into custody.
