ROWLETT (CBS11) — She was supposed to be getting ready for her wedding scheduled one week from Saturday.

Instead, family and friends who came into town for the celebration were planning her funeral.

Rowlett police are investigating the death of Laura Aumiller (Grillo) as a homicide.

The 37-year-old mother of three was found shot Friday morning in her kitchen.

According to investigators, Aumiller had returned home from dropping her children off at school around 8:10 a.m. Rowlett police officials said between 8:10 a.m. and noon, she was shot once in the head.

With no signs of forced entry into her home in Spinnaker Cover neighborhood in Rowlett, investigators said either someone followed her inside or was already inside her home.

Neighbors on Saturday placed flowers, a candle and a sign outside the Aumiller family home.

The sign read, "We miss you – in memory of Laura."
