Police: Innocent Bystander Killed, Multiple Injured After Shooting Outside Dallas Hotel

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — Police are investigating after an innocent bystander was killed and multiple others were injured near the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Dallas Friday evening.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., Dallas officers received a report of shots fired near the intersection of Griffin and Elm Street.

Officers learned a confrontation between two groups broke out on the corner of Elm and Lamar Street, the confrontation continued eastbound on Elm and when they reached the corner of Elm and Griffin, shots were exchanged from both groups.

A 19-year-old black male was transported to Baylor Hospital where his condition remains unknown. Police believe he was part of the original disturbance.

Police said during a news conference that the other victim — who was killed in the crossfire — was an innocent bystander waiting at a bus stop.

Dallas police are handling the investigation.
