HURST (KRLD) - Police in Hurst are searching for a female thief who stole a purse from a church employee, and the woman is believed to have struck in several other cities across North Texas.

Hurst police Sergeant Craig Teague says the woman entered St. Paul United Methodist Church, in the 800 block Bedford Euless Road, on June 21.

"The female entered the church and did steal the purse," Sgt. Teague says. "And shortly after stealing the purse, (she) went to QT and Walgreens locations and conducted transactions. The one verified transaction that we have was for around $120."

Fortunately, the victim recognized the theft quickly and took action. Teague says, "Our victim quickly noticed that her purse had been stolen, so she was able to shut down a lot of her credit information with those card carriers to prevent further damage to her finances and credit."

The female suspect was seen driving a white, older model Chevy Venture minivan.

Police say she has pulled off similar thefts in Bedford, Grapevine and Denton.

"We'll notify them of our findings and exchange that information directly with them to see if the same lady in ours is positively the same lady in their offenses," says Sgt. Teague.

Anyone with information about the woman or the thefts is asked to contact Detective R. Rider at 817-788-7179 or send an email to rrider@hursttx.gov.
