Police: Armed Suspect Dead In Officer-Involved Shooting In Fort Worth

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - An armed suspect was shot and killed by Fort Worth police Sunday, authorities say.

The officer-involved shooting happened near East Berry Street and Lauretta Drive at around 4 p.m.

Police officers were in the area searching for a suspect who was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The suspect was seen getting into a vehicle with two others.

According to police, officers tried to pull the vehicle over when the people inside ran out on foot. Two of the suspects followed officer commands and were taken into custody.

Police say the third suspect was found hiding in a nearby pickup truck.

As officers tried to make the arrest, gunshots were fired by police. Authorities could not say if the suspect fired any shots, but they did say a handgun was found on the suspect.

The suspect was struck by gunfire and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect has not yet been identified, but police say he was not a juvenile. The other two suspects were also adults.

There has been no word on what charges the other two suspects face.
