Police: 2 people shot, injured near Paul Quinn College

13-year-old recovering from surgery after shooting

DALLAS - Dallas police say a 13-year-old and an adult man were shot during a dispute in an area around Paul Quinn College on Tuesday.

According to police, officers responded to a shooting call in the 3900 block of Happy Canyon Dr. around 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 19.

Several shots were fired into the home, sending the two victims to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 13-year-old is now recovering from surgery and there is no word on the man's condition.

The gunfire is described as a retaliation shooting, related to a domestic confrontation between a mother and her son. He has since been identified as 25-year-old Marlon Perkins, who is now in police custody.

Justin Pleitez said his younger brother and the other victim were inside when both were hit.

"He said 'I'm going to bring my gun," Pleitez told CBS News Texas. "He came eight minutes later, and my brother was here. He felt something. He looked at the window, and that's when the dude came and boom, boom, two shots."

Perkins has not been formally charged yet.
