Classes at Plano West Senior High resume Tuesday after air conditioning issues closed campus
PLANO (CBSNewsTexas.com) - Plano West Senior High School will resume classes Tuesday after air conditioning issues closed the campus Friday and Monday.
The school said the closure Friday was due to the main HVAC system lines experiencing "significant mechanical issues" from the prolonged extreme heat.
Sunday, Plano ISD announced Plano West classes would be canceled again Monday because the overall HVAC system was not fully functional.
The district said the campus closed Monday despite ongoing repairs all weekend and that it is "making every effort and have district technicians and outside contractors working around the clock to repair the system."
The district said Monday that temperatures in all campus buildings are stable and expected to keep "normal indoor temperatures;" however, the repair is temporary.
PISD said its facilities team as well as outside professional contractors will begin a "more extensive & permanent repair following dismissal Friday."
The district said it expects all repairs will be completed before classes resume after the Labor Day holiday on Sept. 5.
