AUSTIN (CBSDFW.COM) - It looks like 2016 is starting off the right way for one North Texas resident. Denny Elliott of Plano has claimed a second-tier Mega Millions prize worth $1 million.

Elliott's lucky Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (16-32-39-53-57 ), but not the Mega ball number (10) -- that's an automatic $1 million win!

Elliott, who has requested minimum publicity, purchased the ticket at the Quiktrip on East Spring Creek Parkway in Plano for the February 23 drawing.

Lottery fever was running wild across North Texas and the nation back in January when the Powerball jackpot was worth more than $1 billion. While no one in the Lone Star State took home the big $1.5 billion jackpot just like Elliott, four Texans walked away with $1 million for matching five numbers.
