PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - The City of Plano believes it's fixed a potential danger for swimmers and is reopening its aquatic center Thursday at 11 a.m.

Last summer a man was walking along the pool when his leg went straight through a grate.

He told CBS 11 the damage was so bad he'd likely need a knee replacement.

The city closed down the center and has spent the last five months putting in a new grating system.

As a show of appreciation to the community's patience during the closure, the Plano Aquatic Center will offer free swimming this weekend.
