PLANO (CBS11) - Plano Police brought a cadaver dog Wednesday morning to search the area for any additional bones or evidence in what could turn out to be a crime scene.

Detectives also received help from the Texas Department of Public Safety.  The DPS helicopter allowed police to get an aerial view to document the search area.

Don Hartung has lived near here for 28 years.

"We haven't had anything like this in the neighborhood," said Hartung.

He was surprised by the police activity that began late Tuesday afternoon in Spring Creek behind Carlisle Elementary & Schimelpfenig Middle schools.

"I saw one police car, then it was two police cars, then by about 6, there were ten cars," said Hartung.

The principal at Carlisle sent a letter home to parents Wednesday explaining that because of the police investigation, recess was held indoors.

A Plano ISD spokeswoman says students at Schimelpfenig Middle weren't affected.

Police say as a courtesy, they notified relatives of their two most recent missing persons: Christina Morris, who disappeared from Legacy Shops in Plano in August, 2014, and Christopher Tennyson, who went missing in April of last year.

He lived nearby and often walked along the creek.

Tennyson's wife declined comment.

We were unsuccessful in contacting Morris' mother.

Officer David Tilley, Plano Police Department spokesman said, "If it comes back as a male, clearly we will focus on Mr. Tennyson, that is within a reasonable area of where he would have possibly been. If it comes back female, then clearly we'll focus more on the Christina Morris situation."

Tilley said police have DNA in both cases.

"This is a hurry up and wait situation for us. Clearly we want to know and get results back as soon as possible," says Tilley.
