Texas Rangers Investigate Officer Involved Shooting At QuikTrip

PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer involved shooting outside a QuikTrip gas station in the 6400 block of Preston Road.

Witnesses said an armed man approached a woman around 4 p.m. as she was pumping gas. In an attempt to get help she drove her car into the back of a truck. That's when an officer who was nearby saw what was going on and exchanged gunfire with the suspect.

The officer shot the suspect multiple times, according to police.

"We saw the man laying down right behind the car with a gun in his hand no movement and then the officers kicked it out of his hand," said Joshua Cotten who works at a nearby car wash.

He was transported to a local hospital. There's no word yet on his condition.

No one else was hurt in the incident.

Witnesses like Brett Robinson, who recorded the aftermath on his cell phone cameras said the man lay motionless on the ground when the gunfire was over.
