PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) -- Plano Police have arrested a 17-year-old and charged him with murder in the stabbing death of a 16-year-old on Sunday.
Plano resident Jonathan Teran Rodriguez has been charged with murder in the death of Jerry Soto. He is currently being held at the Collin County Detention Center on $1,000,000 bond.
Soto was killed after an argument turned violent late Sunday night. The incident occurred just a few houses down from his home near the intersection of 15th Street and Meadows Drive, near Meadows Elementary School in east Plano.
Authorities say Soto and a friend were outside the victim's home, when a third teen walked by. Soto followed the suspect down the street.
Moments later, Soto's friend found him stabbed, and the suspect was gone. Soto died at a nearby hospital.
"He was a great dude," says Angel Posada, the victim's friend. "I know he was a troublemaker, but he had like a good heart for everybody. He was real with everybody, and he was a really good person if you got to know him."
Plano Police say the investigation is ongoing.
