PLANO (CBSDFW.COM) - A pair of Renner Middle School students were shot with a BB gun while walking back from their mentorship service at Brinker Elementary School Thursday.

A group of Renner students were with a staff member in the parking lot of the Muehlenbeck Recreation Center parking lot, when the pellets were shot from what's described as a small silver sedan.

Plano ISD said the two students who sustained minor injuries were treated and released by the Plano Fire Department.

School administrators are working with witnesses, safety and security personnel and the Plano Police Department to investigate this incident.

The district said there were additional police patrols for the remainder of the day and during dismissal.
