Plano Father Killed In Bizarre Drunk Driving Accident

RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) - A Plano father is dead after a bizarre accident involving a suspected drunk driver.

It started in Richardson where a man stole a car.

Police said a man who was believed to be intoxicated was lying on the 75 service road about 8:15 p.m. Friday night.

An off duty firefighter stopped to help, But the man on the ground became belligerent and took off in the firefighter's car.

That crash happened at 75 and Renner Road.

The man driving the stolen car, identified as 29-year-old Timothy Strong, ran a red light and hit a car driven by Rischi Bhatia. The 68-year-old man was killed.

Bhatia's family said he was on his way home from work at a semi-conductor company where he worked 15 years without ever missing a day.

He had just bought a new car for his wife last week and was planning a trip back to India soon where he emigrated from 35 years ago.

Bhatia's sons said their father was a loving and generous man.

Police have filed intoxication manslaughter against Timothy Strong and he is being held in a Collin County jail.
