PLANO (CBS 11 NEWS) - Are you a Wizard? A Couple With Capital? An Empire Builder?
You probably don't know.
But if you live in Plano, your neighborhood falls into a sometimes oddly named category.
Consultants working for the city mapped and labeled communities based on the type of people who live there, as a part of study on home values.
There's the Crème De La Crème, the city's largest group representing 36% of communities, the ones most likely to house married couples with high incomes, nice cars, and designer clothes.
"If you hear that word, you think very high end," said David Peirpont, who's not sure the label fits his neighborhood.
"We were just at Lowe's, so I don't know how high end that is."
The study pinpoints communities with names like "Married in the Suburbs" where you'll find middle class families, "Living in Nature" for more rural areas, and "Espaniola" where mostly Spanish speakers live.
"I think it's really funny actually," said Natalie Pierpont.
Some labels describing sub-categories are downright odd.
"Marmalade and money" describes certain retiree communities.
"Wizards" describes certain well-off singles.
The study does have a purpose, helping identify community needs.
"If you're looking to understand what the makeup of your neighborhoods are, what their needs are, I think it's the right kind of effort," said David Pierpont.
Still with names like "Bonds and Babies" and "Sublime Suburbia" it may just leave you scratching your head.
