Plano 4th-Grader Gets Ride To Remember On First Day Of School

PLANO (CBS11) - A Plano mother felt bad when she couldn't be there to take her son to school on his first day. So she found another way to make it special.
Hunter Carlson wasn't looking forward to his first day at school because his mother was far away.
"She's never been gone this long," said Hunter.
"It was awful. I woke up this morning knowing it was gonna be a rough morning for me I've already been kind of teary-eyed on and off," said Tiffani Carlson, Hunter's mom who is away on National Guard training.
Plano Police Chief Greg Rushin answered the call for a special ride.
"Nothing can replace your mother on your first day of school but we certainly want to help as much as we could," says Rushin.
Hunter talked shop with the chief before the fourth-grader arrived at Saigling Elementary in style.
"It's a dream come true," says Hunter. After a hug from the chief, Hunter still had police motorcycle waiting to sit on.
Hunter still missed his mother who couldn't be more grateful to Plano officers for a police escort that proved they will be there when needed no matter the reason.
